Does this make sense for a RAID 6 array?
I have three 2TB drives, one 1TB drive, and two 500GB drives. the 500's are old and will be on there way out soon. I would like to setup RAID 6 for double data redundancy. Can i combine my 500's into a RAID 0 and split all of my 2TB's into 1TB's giving me a total of eight logical 1TB drives. Then combine all of those into a RAID 6 array giving me a total of 6TB of usable space? if one of the 2TB's fails i can still rebuild the array, but does it make sense to do it this way? Or should i combine the 500's and 1TB into a 2TB then just do RAID 5?
