    Red face Ubuntu initramfs error

I just bought a book about ubuntu. It came with the Ubuntu 11.04 Installation(and live!) cd.

After I popped the cd into my superdrive, I restarted my mac and booted up into the cd.

Then the screen shows the ubuntu booting screen

I waited and waited for the Ubuntu Live CD screen. It shows this error instead:

BusyBox v1.13.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.13.3-ubuntu11) built in shell (ash)

Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

It's a store-bought CD! How could it possibly have errors???

Please help! Any help will be appreciated.

    Re: Ubuntu initramfs error

I've found quite a few threads on various sites complaining about this exact issue across various versions of Ubuntu, with one possible "fix": use unetbootin to create a bootable USB drive.

To save time if you wish to attempt this, you could always use CD burning software to make an ISO from the CD, then use the ISO with unetbootin (rather than downloading again).

Oh, so does it mean that there is nothing wrong with the store-bought CD?
