Even ping and traceroute through "TOR"

I was working with tor lately and configured it for all my web-browsers some ftp connections....
But lately now i am thinking if it is possible to configure tor for all of my system's entire traffic ... I mean, I want even the system's ping, tracert, traceroute and all my nmap scans through my tor network .. I do understand that such scanning will be really really slow but i was wondering if it is possible .....

The torify command should do this. So "torify ping google.com" for example. If you want to encrypt *all* traffic, you might find the Whonix linux distribution interesting.

Yes, I know the OP might not be looking for the answer anymore, but for future reference for any googlers like me...
