Anyone managed to get it working with ATI Mobility Radeon 5000 yet, specifically 5400 series?

Also I noticed on the ATI website there is a new beta driver released 12.6 and it says it allows support for multiple GPUs with some 7000 series cards in case anyone wanted to look.

Seems like this is the relevent part of the changelog:

Ubuntu Precise 12.04 LTS LiveCD had to start with boot options nomodeset and acpi=off.
After installation i had to boot only with the nomodeset.
After following your instructions, all worked without these boot options.
(Ubuntu Mint 13 Maya is working out of the box, no need to add these boot options at all!)

(This step below was also not needed on Ubuntu Mint 13 Maya, its working out of the box)
Screen was dark though, but seemed brightness after every reboot.
So i added this line to /etc/rc.local before exit 0:

echo 8 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
exit 0

On others non-switchable graphic cards, there is an option to do this in Catalyst Control Center.
