Exclamation Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

    Hi friends,
I finished install my fresh Ubuntu 13.04 and would like install fglrx (ATI driver).
But, I tried install the new AMD proprietary 13.4 and got a low graphics mode after reboot.
When I install both fglrx or fglrx-updates the system don't boot.
When I was using the precise version I instaled with success through repository ppa:andrikos/ppa in x86 version.
    can someone please help me?

    Thanks in advance.

    MarcoDePollo,

Could you please tell us if it's fglrx working out of the box over Ubuntu 13.04?
I mean, does it need some patch or fix (like andrikos xorg-video-intel in 12.10?)

Or it just works following wiki.cchtml installation guide?

P.S.: For me, only Catayst 13.2 works without hanging at rebooting/shutting-down

It works out of the box, for me. But, somewhere in the kernel-build for Raring some setting is actually disabling my integrated Intel-graphics, so an lspci only lists my discrete graphics.
If I boot up an older Ubuntu - or any other distro, even with one based on kernel 3.8, the Intel graphics are back.

The CPU is an i7-2670QM, which confirms it's Sandy Bridge. The graphics is also confirmed to be "Radeon HD 7690m XT",
which I assume is a rebranded Series 6000-chip, because CCC tells me it an "HD6700 Series".

    Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

    Hi,

I have the same issue on my Sony Vaio after upgrading to ubuntu 13.04. I'm trying to install the latest 13.4 driver version.
integrated graphics card works (fine) - switching to external works but results in a low resolution startup of the Xserver.

    My vaio has:

there's a strange error in the xorg logout when starting with external graphic

    Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

    Hi,
I'm using HP Pavilion dv6-6112tx with HD 6770M / Intel HD, just started to use Ubuntu yesterday with the new release of 13.04.
After the installation, the fan is running in high mode and my laptop seems to be overheated. I suspected this is happening because of the Hybrid card issue.
By default, it seems that it runs in high-performance graphic mode.

So, I tried the method from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...80#post1250188 but it didn't work for 13.04 64bit using 13.4 drivers
However, it seems to work fine on 12.04.2 LTS 64bit with AMD 13.4 drivers.
Note: in 12.04.2 Before installing AMD drivers, there's always error reporting: "xorg crashed with sigabrt" after entering GUI.

This is the step by step guide:
    1. Upgrade the HP DV6 BIOS to F.1B and after the bios update, change the bios setting (under 'system config' - 'switchable graphics mode' change to "fixed")
    2. Fresh Install Ubuntu 12.04.2
    3. Update and install linux headers / source
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    4. reboot
    5. install linux headers / source
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install linux-source linux-headers-generic
    6. reboot
    7. install prereq package for amd 13.4 drivers
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install build-essential cdbs dh-make dkms execstack dh-modaliases fakeroot libqtgui4
    sudo apt-get install lib32gcc1
    7. download and install 13.4 drivers using manual installation http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...l_Installation
    Code:
    wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/am...x86.x86_64.zip
    unzip amd-catalyst-13.4-linux-x86.x86_64.zip
    chmod +x amd-catalyst-13.4-linux-x86.x86_64.run
    ./amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.4-x86/x86_64.run
Follow GUI Installation and choose the basic one "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver" and automatic
    8. reboot
    9. test your installation by running
    Code:
    fglrxinfo
    fgl_glxgears
    10. Activate power-saving mode
    Code:
amdconfig --pxl # List current activated GPU
sudo amdconfig --px-igpu # Activate integrated GPU (Power-Saving mode), must re-start X to take effect
    11. reboot
    12. The fan should be quiet and the hybrid mode should be working now

    Re: AMD/Intel Hybrid Graphics works

When I install 13.4 from debs generated from the AMD website .run file, during the "aticonfig --initial -f" I get the following error:

    Code:
PowerXpress info: Diagnostic output from /usr/lib64/fglrx/switchlibglx:
update-alternatives: warning: forcing reinstallation of alternative /usr/lib/fglrx/ld.so.conf because link group x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf is broken
update-alternatives: warning: not replacing /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules with a link
Then when I boot I get X starting in low graphics mode.

Does anybody know what might be causing this and how I can fix this?
I'm on a SandyBridge/AMD66xx hybrid on a Sony Vaio running Raring.

    Hi,

    My notebook: HP Pavilion dv6-6b63sr

    Code:

After install catalyst 13.4 (using packages or amd installer) i got error in xorg.0.log log and X is not started.

If I switch to integrated video:
    Code:
    sudo amdconfig --px-igpu
    System boot normaly.
The temperature of the notebook dropped and fan is quiet.
