Adobe Flash is Leving Linux but staying with Google Chrome

I read this morning that Adobe Flash is leaving Linux, mainly Mozilla, however, it will still be offered in Google's Chrome. I'm curious, is Chrome synonymous with Ubuntu's Chromium?

I see this thread already exists. Quite extensively too. Great thread. Lots of savvy feedback too. nothing more can be said.

Although not about flash, I thought would be interesting to post this article here:

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/02...drm_infection/

It talks about the attempt of Microsoft, Goolge and Netflix to add DRM to HTML 5 specification.

For those interested, Dedoimedo cuts loose on the subject. He has more than a few provocative opinions.

I stopped reading when the article said is okay to use Chrome just to play flash videos. Is not. It breaks the work-flow completely, because once I have to open a different browser, I lose access to all the extensions, extra features and configurations of the browser of my choice. Let's say I want to download the video (assuming I have the right to do so), I will no longer be able to use the best extension for that purpose and there is also the possibility that Chrome doesn't have an extension to do that.

I may be paranoid, but this move by Google scares me a lot. Specially considering the rapid growth of Chrome market-share. I just hope Ubuntu doesn't drop Firefox and add Chrome, as already suggested in some articles I have read.

So Pepper is NOT a Flash replacement, but rather a Javascript replacement...so in other words, Flash will no longer be offered for Linux at all. Great.

This sounds to me like much ado about nothing. How long will it take for the FLOSS comunity to develop a Pepper API plugin for Firefox? This is going to have zero impact on GNU / Linux and a minimal impact if any on Firefox
