Software centre missing and issues 11.10

I have no software centre icon and Dash home says I can install the software centre on 11.10 but clicking it has no effect. So how can I add remove software? Dash home shows I can add all sorts of software but nothing happens if I click on an icon.

Also can I add folder short cuts to the launcher?

And how do I make system settings/ displays realise I have two monitors that both worked on 11.04?

Finaly if all else fails can I go back to 11.04

go to terminal try sudo apt-get install software-center

one other thing you can try is another flavor like xubuntu 11.10

though if 11.04 works on your computer, 11.10 should work better.

did you do an upgrade? sometimes these result in broken systems.
try a clean install to 11.10

thanks heaps that worked very nicely. Yes I chose the upgrade method on a cd I burnt from an ISO. I chose up grade and it saved all my documents with out problem. Thanks again.

Regarding folder shortcuts, you can add quicklists, so that you can right click on the folder icon and then go from there - that is the best I can think off. Check out http://www.techdrivein.com/2011/05/t...104-natty.html for a fuller explanation
