I am trying to use my Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 to record video game footage. So far I have plugged the device into Windows in order to upgrade it to the latest worthwhile version (1.5.7) noted on the Myth TV Wiki:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HD-PVR

Now I've plugged it into Ubuntu but I can't find a way to display the gameplay footage. I've tried Cheese and VLC so far. I haven't tried the packed-in Windows program to see if the device works yet because the only computer I have with Windows is a netbook, which has no CD drive.

In one of the posts I found while trying to find a solution it gave a command to see video devices:
dmesg | grep video
[ 1.130858] pci 0000:02:00.0: Boot video device
[ 165.007269] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
[ 165.244788] hdpvr 1-3:1.0: device now attached to video0
So it looks like the device is being detected, but for some reason I can't see the stream.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.
