    Windows Sharing Password Issue

    hi, this is my first post here but i have been using ubuntu for a few months now. i have ubuntu installed on my desktop which is connected to my lan via ethernet. when i click on places>network i can see my laptop running win 7. when i double click on my laptop it prompts me for my password. however, i do not know which password to put it. i have tried my ubuntu password, homegroup password, workgroup password and i even tried to leave it blank but it doesnt work. i get no error it just closes the password window and asks me for my password again. please help!

    Did you try your windows7 password?

    You will have to grant "everyone" permissions on the windows machine - or put a password on the windows account and use that

    Bumping after 1/2 hour isn't really necessary...

    No need for premature bumps. You are only allowed to bump after 24 hours have passed since your last post.

    Your user account on Windows 7 should have a password on it. Use that one.

    The homegroup feature is only something for Windows 7 computers to use, as far as I know.

    sorry, also i have put a password on my win7 account and tried to use that when the box pops up, but still nothing

    nevermind guys, i just used samba and got all up and running (although im not sure how)
