    Try to uncomment
    # deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu oneiric partner
    # deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu oneiric partner
    lines in /etc/apt/source.list, then:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    sudo apt-get update
    That did it for me.
    It installed these packages: x11-common xorg xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-input-all xserver-xorg-video-all

    Re: muon software center crashed

If you are issuing the commands

    Code:
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    sudo apt-get update
in that order, you should reverse the order. I would also use dist-upgrade.

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
dist-upgrade will attempt to resolve any dependencies.

Contrary to the misconception of many, it does not attempt to upgrade your current version to the next version. That is a different command.

    easy linux tips java

There's a great tutorial with step by step instructions that you can copy and paste in the terminal.

    Re: muon software center crashed

yeah, i get these packages that has the java interpreter
    gcj-4.4-jre-headless
    gcj-4.6-jre-headless
    openjdk-6-jre-headless
    gcj-4.5-jre-headless
    openjdk-7-jre-headless

i think installing one of them would be enought to run applets in a browser, though i would install something like openjdk-7-jre insted it installs more package and dependences

i've learned about a sun-java6-jre (or something like that) package too, but i've never found that.
