    i have a few problems

ok im still useing 9.04 and im trying to install flash and java but where my version is outdated i can't use the terminal to download and i can't use the software center. i tried upgradeing and all of the versions above this will not install or it gives me problems. 10.04 would freeze and i have to restart the computer every time i tried to play an online game or video. 10.10 would not install at all no matter what i did. 11.04 and 11.10 gave the same error of "missing keyword in config." so is there anyway to fix it to where i can install an upgraded ubuntu or am i just stuck with this. Also if i am stuck with this how can i install java and flash on a discontinued system

First of all, if this is the only working version, create its backup first (using clonezilla or any disk-imaging tool).

Then download and try Xubuntu (10.04 or 11.10). If it gives errors too, please post:
