Not a new account, just haven't been here for a while.

So, I log into the forums and I haven't been here in a while. I see that I cannot edit my profile because of this <50 points decision.

However, I am not a new user. I have been a member since 2005. Changes to these forums has seemed to have removed my prior posts. (Not that there were a lot. I tend to read and search for answers rather than jumping into asking questions.

I do find this unfair to me as an occasional user.

As it seems you have been since 2005, you're properly an experienced user that can easily get 50 beans by helping out in the Beginner's forum

I thought I would have still had enough points but I am not sure when that system was implemented.

It was implemented not long ago, as the spam posts and accounts went ridicules high.
A forum this size attracts a thrown of spam bots, sadly.
