Sync Button Does Nothing (Banshee)

I'm trying to sync my iPod to Banshee, but when I hit the Sync button on the top right hand corner, it doesn't do anything. I tried using Rhythmbox to sync it, but that just sent up a ton of "Cannot sync files, read file only" then the system crashes probably due to the fact that there's a popup for each song on my computer.

Any help? I tried changing the permissions of each artist folder, but that didn't help...

I would try to reformat it with a windows or Mac version of iTunes, then it should work in Ubuntu as well. The gtkpod software gives you more control than banshee/rhythmbox, so give it a try.
do you have a iPod 6g (6th generation)? In that case it is not supported by the libgpod libraries yet, but I found that spotify for linux can synchronize it
