Im using ubuntu 12.04 now but I started with the nouveau driver and it was slugish.
The Rebeca Black (KDE) said it was using nouveau and another thing that was weird is thw web browser keep saying wrong user name or password when I tried to login to ubuntu forums to write you a msg, tried 4 times so now im back on precise.
Thanks, Im going backto RBL, maybe I should install it ?
Weird. RBL IS based on Precise... I'll take a look at Nouveau packages that I should install, perhaps it's not installing them all by default when I install kubuntu-desktop. And I will also put Firefox into the next build, as Rekonq kind of gives me some issues too when I use it on Live CDs.

I don't think installing it would make much of a difference from a Live CD...

EDIT: I read your post as "it was using nouveau and another thing that was weird"... After I reread it, I realized that you where talking about the web browser with that... It might be the card is not yet supported.

    Re: Wayland Live CD

I installed it and added some packages to see if it helped.
The nouveau_dri.so file was not in the dir so I made a link to it
    and now it says:

libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to create dri screen
    failed to make context current
    failed to create compositor

I guess nvidia cards don't like Wayland,
I give up for now, don't know what else to do,
but maybe later, thanks for the RBL

That just might be the way I am building mesa, it seems there is more drivers in the default /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu then the custom/usr/local/lib/i386-linux-gnu...

    Let me try something.

I think so... according to http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...item&px=ODc3MA

AFAIK there is the use cases where you are switching GPU's for one screen, or offloading to a GPU, or using two GPU cards for multiple screens... I don't know if it's yet supported by Wayland.

I'm trying new compile flags for mesa... I think this might add Nouveau support. The CD build scripts are running, and I won't be back to see the results of the build for some hours...

If all goes well, I'll upload the new ISO, and script changes to SVN... Don't spend anything just yet.

    Wait, I'm back.

The build finished. It has more files in /usr/local/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri, although not as many, and it started up in Virtualbox.

However, it seems when I ran it, they where working on the git repo, and the install of Wayland was only half finished, and didn't work properly, but it did start up it. I'll try another run.
