I am using coLinux to run Ubuntu 10.04 server, and it appears that the installation assumes that the console is a graphical screen and tries to run some commands which make the screen go blank. Once booting is complete I am able to login via SSH and everything looks normal.

Now I need the graphics but only remotely, using mainly x2go or NX. Is there some way to let the boot process know that the startup terminal or screen is not a graphics one, then perhaps launch the graphical part in a another terminal?

So in effect assuming that the hardware is real, eg VGA screen etc, how would you get Ubuntu not to boot into graphics mode?
