Well, it's settled. I uninstalled oneiric and went back to natty for good ol' Gnome 2 and GTK 2.0
I hope the MATE project gets stable soon.
I installed the linux 3.0 kernel, for better power saving since I'm using a laptop. Anything else I should do to make Natty the best?

No I don't want GNOME 3/GTK 3.0 and its ugly shell. In fact, I've already tested out Lisa and I didn't like it. I used to use Linux Mint Katya but then I decided to switch to Ubuntu and just add the only MInt component I liked (the minMenu) cause I like everything else in Natty (ubuntu one, the artwork, etc.)

I think BC59 was saying that because LM12 also ships with MATE...not just Gnome Shell.

Exactly. And the Gnome 3 included in Mint12 is altered with many extensions and is very user friendly.I think BC59 was saying that because LM12 also ships with MATE...not just Gnome Shell.
