Post Thunderbird not playing custom sounds.

HI! I was trying to play a custom sound for when I get new messages on thunderbird. It asked for the sound file to be in .wav format, I converted the file but it still doesn't play the sound. Not in the preview and not when I get a new mail. Can anyone tell me what I could possibly be doing wron? I installed of of the codecs necessary since i can play the file with any other application. Thanks in advanced.

Re: Thunderbird not playing custom sounds.

I have the same problem except that Ubuntu will play it's own sound sometimes. Most of the time I hear nothing though.

    I have Ubuntu 11.04.

In Ubuntu 11.10 I had the same issue.

    Edit:

    Also in Lubuntu.

Won't help in my case because I already have that installed.

Did you place the sound file in Home>Music??

That might be why it's not working.

    Edit:

Mine now works because I did this.

Thanks for the info. I'll try this and reply
Edit: It doesn't work after both changes.

Darn. It still didn't work for you.

Maybe someone else can help-I'm out of ideas.
