The Full Monty looks good. Like the different screens for various things. But the five hour download would take a bit. Get a large pot of coffee.

Myself I'm getting tired of this Gnome/Ubuntu nonsense. This won't be the first time that a distro has ditched Gnome or some derivative thereof.Slackware several years back decided to dump Gnome and go expressly with KDE. Then KDE pulled their revision of 3.5 to 4.0 and there was a hullabaloo then as now with Ubuntu. Slackware has stayed with KDE and I believe they will continue. Slackware is one of the most stable distros around. A little difficult to set up first time but rock-solid when it is.I like Ubuntu but choice is what I like more.

Mind you there are 3rd party offerings of GNOME for Slackware that some still use. And bear in mind as well that Slackware also ships with xfce, fluxbox and a few others. My own Desktop here featuring Slackware -current and Fluxbox....

I'm well aware of all you have written. I've been using Slackware for 13 years. Used Fluxbox exclusively until I got married.

Well after much looking around and time spent playing with 12.04 I have made my decision. The older relatives that can't handle change I will set up on 12.04 with Gnome classic. All the others though I will point to Mint 13 Cinnamon. The Cinnamon interface behaves in the traditional manner that computer users are familiar with. Not to mention it looks great and requires very little work to set up. I don't want to start a cheer leading thread so I'll leave it at that.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

    Mike.

I heard some say in Mint, since it using aDE Cinnamon, it has no LTS.
I don't if it true or not.
For Ubuntu, I also heard some say, with helps of a local repository, it will always be supported.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Thank you
