Is anyone else having the problem of, when a message is deleted in Thunderbird, instead of going into the "bin", its going into the "important" folder instead?
This doesn't happen when deleting from within Gmail, only when deleting in Thunderbird.

Is there only me with this problem?
After upgrading Thunderbird from Version 7 to 8. The trash bin on the left hand side has disappeared.
Any messages I now delete either end up in the important folder or disappear altogether, making them irretrievable.
I've reinstalled Thunderbird twice & deleted the config files in my home folder. Same result.
As I understand your old account was passed to Thunderbird 8, but they are not perfectly compatible.
A solution could be exporting your mail and address book, delete the /.thunderbird folder and install a new account, importing your mail and address book.
Hi BC59, Thanks for your reply.
I've tried all that already, nothing seems to bring my "trash" bin back in v8.
May have to revert back to v7 until v9 is released.
finally managed to solve this, if anyone else is having this problem.
In TB8 When you connect to a gmail account 2 addons also install.
EDS Contact integration & a provider for Google Calendar.
Anway disabled the addons, restarted Thunderbird & now my Trash folder is back.
Thread marked as solved.
I notice that my Thunderbird now is version 9. I don't know if yours is already updated and if the new version influenced the solution of the problem.
No still on TB8 here.
Didn't know FF9 or TB9 had hit the repos yet.
Yes it's there and with more bugs! Now changing the settings and pushing OK is not responding, so you choose Cancel, only to found that the change was accepted!
