    Evolution contacts imported by Thunderbird

    Ubuntu 11.10 Thunderbird 8.0.

Thunderbird was installed by default in the new Ubuntu 11.10 but I still had all of my information in Evolution so I uninstalled Thunderbird and installed Evolution again and imported my back up file to restore it.

Now I am ready to migrate to Thunderbird but it imports all of my Evolution contacts and will not let me delete them. The imported files do not show some of the information such as phone numbers in the preview pain so it is not working properly. If I create a new folder in Firefox everything displays as it should.

How can I delete the Evolution folders in Thunderbird or prevent Thunderbird from importing them?

    Thanks in advance. Bob.

It wasn't necessary to uninstall Thunderbird in order to install evolution, and I think that was actually the cause of the problem. Why not just create contacts in Thunderbird, then copy/paste the information from evolution?

Re: Evolution contacts imported by Thunderbird

When I installed Thunderbird and it idiomatically copied my Evolution contacts over. However not all the correct information shows up in the preview pain in Thunderbird. Such as the phone numbers.

I do want to add the contacts and not have them added as full address books idiomatically.

    Can I prevent this?

If you didn't remove Thunderbird before installing Evolution, this probably wouldn't have happened.

If I uninstall Thunderbird (reboot) and reinstall it (even if Evolution is not running) it still creates the address books.

I do know how to move files I just don't want Thunderbird to do it autocratically and copy my existing evolution address book on it's own. And do it incorrectly.
