Enabling colour printing

I have a Canon printer MG3150 which prints copies in colour but will not print in colour a photograph sent from my laptop which is running xubuntu 12.04. Can anyone advise how to enable colour printing from the computer. Thank you.

have you installed the 3100 series driver that canon supplies? I am assuming that you have a USB cable from your laptop to your MG3150

..if you copy and paste this command

sudo dpkg -l | grep cnijfilter*

into a terminal and paste back what you get;
