Angry Laptop temperature gets really high

    hi,

When I am using kubuntu, my laptop's temperature increases so so much. the fans are working really hard and still I can feel the heat. This is while when I used windows previously the laptop worked perfectly normal during operations.
    any suggestions?

p.s: I had this problem both with Oneiric and Natty... and I have a thread going on here : http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3118709.0 but still unsolved...

    Sorry, don't have a solution, just a reply ...

I believe this has something to do with CPU scaling being "broken" in recent kernel versions. There is a bug on that, but I can't find the link to it at present.

But basically, until they get around to fixing the kernel bug, and pushing out a kernel update, there's not really much you can do.

At least, you didn't come here demaning to know how to slow down the fan (like so many others do) -- and then burn up your PC.
Ubuntu 16.04 Mate, Mint 18 Mate; MS Win 8.1, MS Win10 Pro.
Will not respond to PM requests for support -- use the forums.

A workaround to the bug is to install the proprietary video drivers, then the fan slows down to almost normal levels.

On this blog they propose a solution but I didn't try it:
