Thread: change administrator account

    Question change administrator account

    so....... my laptop died and someone did a re-install.
    now, the only account is just "owner" and a real generic password.

    how do i change that?

    maybe "administrator" was bad wording.........

    he did a dual boot install of win7/ubuntu. where he installed ubuntu in a folder, not partition (no idea how he did that).
    anyway, yeah...... the only account on here is "owner" and it's annoying me.

    He did a WUBI install of Ubuntu.
    With windows 7 you go to control panel, user accounts.
    Ubuntu just look for user accounts.

    Ubuntu was most likely installed with wubi https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide

    If you have the administrator pass word open user accounts and select unlock and enter the pass word to change account details .

    ah, gotcha.

    next question.... how do i get it to see the rest of the drive?
    ubuntu doesn't recognize internal filesystems, no?

    Ubuntu can.
    Your using Wubi so the setup is different. I have never used wubi... I would read up on it a bit or consider installing Ubuntu on an actual partition. << Very easy.
