hardware fault or a program fault?

Wireless is disabled by hardware switch

After having installing the latest update of Ubuntu 11.10 on 11.11.11 (should be a lucky day) my wireless stopped working and the system tells me that it is due to "Wireless is disabled by hardware switch"

There is a small switch on my HP laptop which one easily can activate by mistake and the wireless is off and you get the above mentioned error.

The problem is that the wireless doesn't come back when I press that switch?

My question is: Is it a hardware fault or a program fault?

Probably a software bug. Did it work ok on previous versions of Ubuntu?

Sounds like a case of blocking.
