Stuck at laptop-detect when installing Oneiric

I'm attempting to install Oneiric Ocelot on my old Toughbook and it gets stuck at:

log-output -t ubiquity laptop-detect

I've found other users have hit the same thing, with Bug 820485.

Does anyone have a work-around for this? Any ETA for an updated 11.10 installer CD that will get past this somehow?

I found a workaround for this. I used the alternative installer and did a text-based install. Everything worked fine. The text-based installer is quite nice actually.
