have you tried editting your sources something like this?
this worked for my old 8.04 install, but last time I added anything on it was last year.Code:deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ <release name> main etc etc
http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/

Thanks! My problem was that I didn't know to google on "old releases ubuntu". That would have fixed me right up.
