How do I restore the envelope icon in 10.04?

I must have inadvertently removed it previously. However, I'm using Thunderbird now and I want an indicator.


Edit: Follow up question. If I upgrade to 10.10, will it come back?

Right click on the panel and select "Add to Panel".In the list that opens,select and add the Indicator Applet.

10.04 is Long Term Support (LTS) whereas 10.10 is not.So if you keep 10.04 it will probably be supported longer that 10.10 will.

I've tried that. However, adding the Indicator Applet only adds the batter icon and the volume icon.

Do you know if you have un-installed "indicator-messages"?

Open Synaptic Package Manager and search for indicator and see if "indicator-messages" is installed.You could try re-installing it.
