Toshiba netbook brightness keys

Hello, a newbie here... Anyways, loaded 10.04 ubuntu netbook on my Toshiba NB305-N444NB and found that my brightness functions keys no longer work. I searched various ubuntu forums, but a lot of the solutions are a little over my head to understand. Any idea's on how to resolve the function key issues for a simple minded person??? Let me know. Thanks...

Can you point us at some of the information you've already found? I don't have this model and a quick Google search didn't turn up any useful results but perhaps I can clarify some of the information you found already.

Just a quick note... During the boot up of the netbook, when the Toshiba banner logo displays, if you hold down the FN key and press the F7 key (brightness), it will make the screen brighter. Bottom line, I don't want to reboot everytime just to adjust the brightness.
