Security for newbies

Well the problem really is this. You have all these nifty devices to secure a network but there is nobody securing Layer 8

(which for those who do not know, is the 20 something year old blonde bombshell sitting at the front desk answering phones and clicking things on facebook)

This has triggered some seriously disturbing thoughts.....

In one sense...we're done, finished and basking in our superiority!!

In another sense....we're just getting started. I can't speak for Ms Daisy, but I've gained some significant footholds into some complex material. Firewalls just clicked for me during this process - in fact I'd fancy my chances of writing my own "how to set up a firewall" guide using gufw.

Next steps for me is to break down some of the material again and rebuild to really get to the nub of some of the confusing issues for newbies, to help get the message across to newbies learning some complex material.

My thanks to all the people that have been involved in this - there's too many to name and DT did a better job of it in his blog than I ever could. Hopefully the result will be worth it for other newbies struggling to create a secure system.
