Oneiric w/ GNOME-Shell - cant use as hotspot

in GNOME Shell, if you go to the network connection icon in the top right, and click network settings, then wireless, you will see a button that says "use as hotspot". my computer is connected through an ethernet cable, and there are no wireless networks in my dorm, so i cant use my HP Touchpad in my room. after hitting "use as hotspot", it sets up an WEP encrypted network and shows the passkey, the speed and connection name. but somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds later, it just turns off, saying it couldnt activate the network. anybody know of a fix for this?

No, unfortunately, I never did. I've since switched to Xubuntu and no longer have a need for the hotspot feature (I was at school with no wifi in my room). I wish you luck in finding a solution, though. Maybe it's been fixed since I last tried.
