Hi guys, I have an issue where Ubuntu 11.10 will not detect the make and model of my monitor. Also the color profile app does not detect the monitor as well. Which means I can't install a color profile for my monitor.
Any help???

It is working for me. I'm only a few hours into Oneric so don't expect much.
What kind of video card?
Did you install the 3rd party drivers?
Before I installed the nVidia drivers it didn't detect my monitor types either.

My monitor was being detected on the Live CD. I have an nvidia GTX460 1GB
Hmmm. I have a GTX560 which I'm pretty sure use the same drivers. Did you use the "Additional Drivers" tool to install and activate the nVidia drivers?
I'm not sure what the difference between the Live CD and the plain install but mine acted that way too.

I have the same problem. Running an Asuz laptop and updated to 11.10 from 11.04. The color profiling worked while I was using 11.04 but since the update it does not load the icc profile for the screen and does not show a screen that can be profiled.

This has also happened to my desktop. Before update to 11.10, the monitor was correctly displayed, now it is 'unknown', but the resolution is OK.
I have an NVidia GT430 with the proprietary drivers installed and activated. The nvidia configuration tool (nvidia-settings) correctly identifies make and model for my monitor Idek Iiyama PLE2403WS.
