Re: Failed to download repository information

To add the spotify repository's key, run
    Code:
    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 082CCEDF94558F59
You can remove the cdrom from your sources with
    Code:
    gksudo software-properties-gtk
Other Software tab, untick the boxes next to cdrom:
    When you're done, run
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
and there shouldn't be any errors.

Re: Failed to download repository information

    hello everyone,
I have a similar problem. In my update manager I can read the following message:

so I click on check and get the following error message:

    Failed to download repository information

    Check your Internet connection.

although my internet connection is working fine.

    Here are the details

    W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/sevenmachin...source/Sources 404 Not Found
    , W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/sevenmachin...-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I've tried what suggested above but the sudo apt-get update command end with this:

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/sevenmachin...source/Sources 404 Not Found

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/sevenmachin...-i386/Packages 404 Not Found

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Those sources are either no longer offered or down at the moment. So just use your software sources and uncheck them.

Re: Failed to download repository information

thanks a lot for your reply, that indeed fixed the problem for me (to be honest, in the meantime I had also found this help page http://maketecheasier.com/fix-the-pa...ntu/2012/06/22 )
