    "comcast service notice"

Okay, just browsing the web with chromium when I got this notice:
    COMCAST SERVICE NOTICE
Your immediate attention is required. Constant Guard™ identified that one or more of your computers may be infected with a "Bot". We strongly recommend that you visit the Comcast Constant Guard Center for important information on how to remove malicious software from your computer(s).
With windows I'd probably run my AV and, problem solved, but since this is ubuntu, what should I do?

Have you installed any application for sources other than the Ubuntu repositories?

EDIT : I just got off the phone with Comcast Cable Residential Support.

This is not legitimate, it is a scam. If you wish to verify this you may call (1)800-266-2278 or any number for Comcast from your billing statement.

I have been reading about this. It sounds like a scam to buy norton products. Comcast offers free 7 month or week trials.

The company behind their scan service is http://www.damballa.com/

My daughter got one of those pop ups last week, she is 9 and was afraid she broke something.

    Just install NoScript, lol.

First thing I would do is make sure the email is legit, that is, it's actually coming from Comcast, and if they are links that they are really pointing to a well known Comcast site.

    Regards.

Only thing I remember is Google earth a while back, doubt that's the issue, maybe it's the other people on the network? They use windows...

It's not an email, it's a message in the browser.

Don't get why, I already have norton's junk... lol

Yeah, if a website tries to tell you that you have a bot, but not which one or why they think so, then it's probably just a scam of some kind.

Sounds like a scam. Comcast will send you documentation via USPS.
