When you say 'old interface' do you mean Gnome? If so, you can select Gnome Classic when you log on. It is not exactly the same, but pretty similar.
If you don't like Unity or Gnome Shell, I advise LXDE. It's a pretty similar desktop, lightweight and easy to use.
I'm having a problem where I select the gnome option from the login menu, but it reverts to gnome classic. Did the steps using the guide to purge fglrx, and install the open source drivers. Any suggestions?
Now comes in CompTIA Network+ certified flavor!
The solution metioned caused a black screen after rebooting. What i did is to reinstall fglrx and the screen displayed correct after rebooting. Hope this helps. I had this error on a Win7 desktop PC HP p6715nl
