    gnome-fallback not working for livecd

So I am trying out 11.10 and want gnome classic. I installed the gnome-fallback package and when I logout of unity I am given the option gnome classic with and without effects. Neither work when selected. I am logged back into unity 3d. Anyone know how to access gnome classic aka gnome-fallback?

What you may have to do to try the classic session on live cd -
Install as before, the open System Settings > user accounts
Create a new user, activate that user, then log out & log in to that newly created user choosing one of the classic sessions

(to shut down or restart you may need to log out & back into the ubuntu user

I think the previous post is right but I also think you'll have to have created the live cd/usb with persistence. Did you do that? Unetbootin allows that when creating a live usb.

No persistence is needed, for whatever reason the ubuntu user atm cannot login to a classic session

That did the trick. Gnome classic has improved over the course of 11.10 development and is almost usable

I don't particularly use the fallback but it seems ok. there maybe some tricks or such to improve it.

Thanks. I am a much bigger fan of classic than unity.
