    What about an official thread on Mint's forum? Since Mate is goint to be in Mint Main 12, it could be useful.

    I'm impressed at how quickly this project has come together. I think it needs just a few things to put it in the same league as other desktops. How difficult is it to get nice font rendering in MATE? This is one thing I very much miss about Gnome 2, the font rendering was better. Right now MATE has about the same kind of font rendering I see in Puppy Linux, it is kind of weak. Power management needs to show up in the icon list on the panel. And volume control from the keyboard is needed. I think with a bit more polish MATE could stand up against any desktop. I don't want to sound like I'm being critical, I really like MATE, but I would love to see it improve in these areas. If I knew more about writing code I'd do it myself, but I have to depend upon you excellent developers.

    I 've got MATE running in Debian Testing and I must say, I am impressed.
