Post Some forum mods are being a bit less careful?

First of all, this is a discussion. Not a forum feedback or complain. I want to hear what others have to say.

The fact is there have been several threads in the Ubuntu Forums which have been closed due to asking support for downloading youtube videos.
While I understand that opening a thread on sole purpose of help on downloading videos from youtube violates their ToS except a a download link is included on the video page.

    Youtube Terms:
9.1 With the exception of Content submitted to the Service by you, all other Content on the Service is either owned by or licensed to YouTube, and is subject to copyright, trade mark rights, and other intellectual property rights of YouTube or YouTube's licensors. Any third party trade or service marks present on Content not uploaded or posted by you are trade or service marks of their respective owners. Such Content may not be downloaded, copied, reproduced, distributed, transmitted, broadcast, displayed, sold, licensed, or otherwise exploited for any other purpose whatsoever without the prior written consent of YouTube or, where applicable, YouTube's licensors. YouTube and its licensors reserve all rights not expressly granted in and to their Content.
While closing this kinds of threads is okey according to the Ubuntu Code of Conduct;:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1820917
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1820365
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1816247
... (yea..you'll find these kind of posts all over UF.)

    But there are exceptions.
Sometimes mods have been a bit careless about closing a thread showing this youtube download reason.
    Example: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=953974
Which have been closed (look @ the second page)

This thread had a different purpose and could be useful. only one or two posts about youtube-video downloading I don't think should be enough for closing an entire thread. There may have been more such incidents I dont know of. In such cases, the mod could pm the posters to remove the *parts* asking for support on the taboo or him/her-rself remove the portion; after-all s/he's a mod right?

however for this same reason many more threads would also need closure.
    Example:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1824653
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1410880

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1801774

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1552517

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1799035

Of course mods are also human and they make mistakes.
I just hope they'd be a bit more careful about closing a thread.
And perhaps maybe put up a bold (to the eyes) announcement on this youtube download issue so people could avoid creating threads on this again and again.
    What do you think?

Moved to RC since it's dealing with moderation.

First, the staff does not review each and every post on these forums.

Second, we are not a court of law. If you so desire, hire a lawyer and take your argument up with youtube, but such arguments are inappropriate here as we do not administer yourtube.

When you use youtube you agree to their TOS, if not do not use the service. But we do not support circumventing such TOS, EULA, etc here.

my problem isn't with court laws or with UF CoC or with Youtube.
Its about a little more care while closing threads like http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=953974 which could be moded a little to avoid the conflicting parts instead of closing.

Well why did you mention youtube in the first place ?

The thread in question is over 2 years old, and the discussion had died off long ago.

If you wish to continue the discussion , please start a new thread.

Opening long dead conversations is poor nettiquete.
