    Re: Graphics drivers not found

I downloaded the drivers from this link

    http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-ins...-04-lucid.html

    Are they not right then?

My xorg.config file doesn't have any values in for Monitor...

    Code:
    Section "Monitor"
    	Identifier "Monitor0"
    	VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
    	ModelName "Monitor Model"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    	Identifier "Monitor1"
    	VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
    	ModelName "Monitor Model"
    EndSection

    Re: Graphics drivers not found

If I try to view it from terminal I get:

    Code:
    hannah@Hannah-Laptop:~$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
cat: /etc/X11/xorg.conf: No such file or directory
Even if I run it as sudo.

But when I go to the folder and view the text file it's there... but I can only open it as read-only:

    Re: Graphics drivers not found

    Ok,you saved your
    xorg.conf
    as
    xorg.config
    that's why cat didn't show file's content.

Anyway, the driver you tried to install is outdated (it is for Xserver 1.7 )
and your xorg.conf(ig) is a mess.
    Run

    Code:
    gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    paste into empty file:

    Code:
    Section "Device"
            Identifier "Configured Video Device"
            Driver "vesa"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
            Identifier "Configured Monitor"
            HorizSync 28.0 - 51.0
            VertRefresh 48.0 - 75.0
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
            Identifier "Default Screen"
            Monitor "Configured Monitor"
            Device "Configured Video Device"
    EndSection
    close file saving changes.
    reboot (or restart Xserver)

    1280x800 now available?

    Wow, massive improvement!
    I'm at 1280x768 now...
    Can I make it 800?

    Re: Graphics drivers not found

Thanks, unfortunately screen maximum reported is 1280x768...

    Again run

    Code:
    gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
change 51 to 60,so line is:

    Code:
    HorizSync 28.0 - 60.0
    close,save,reboot.
Honestly I don't think it helps, since 51 should have been enough for
    1280x800,but please try it.
