Not trying to drift this thread off topic
Asking to become an Ubuntu member is personal. Since the beginning of times, we never asked Staff to become one, never looked at Ubuntu Members current list to welcome new Staff in.
Over the last year, some changes have been made to bring the forums in line with other Ubuntu community projects. One aspect was to grant Ubuntu Membership via forums contributions. Another was to have FC members elected as for any other Ubuntu project leaders. Building a forum Ubuntu members team on Launchpad is needed if we want to have FC members elected when our term expires.
We did not strongly ask actual Staff members to become Ubuntu members, but it really makes sense. It will even make more sense for new Staff.
Edit: Being forums Staff almost guaranties your get Ubuntu Membership. I got it during one of the last IRC CC meetings before regional boards were set up. It was already the case 4 years ago.

There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth...not going all the way, and not starting.
