I found it confusing, so is the question "How many of you surf the web with noscript?"

Remember, noscript has many sites white listed by default. I removed the various evil google sites. (I know some people on here actually think google is cool.)

I was going to say... if you don't allow yahoo you get a "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters." ERROR.

I do the reverse thing, i try to replace an entire Adobe Flash based site with HTML5.
If someone installs noscript, then complains that HTML5 doesn't work...

Do you have an actual case I can see of this? Thats too "out there" for me to believe.

I mean, I understand that website operators will/may turn to flash if HTML5 causes some users trouble, it's the whole "Install noscript then complain about HTML5 not working." that throws me off.

It seems like a user who installs noscript would understand why things aren't working, especially if flash gives them the exact same problems.

It works for me except smilies and new lines whenever I submit a post.

This. The days when sites didn't need client side scripting to work properly are fast fading.

I love the title of this thread. It's kind of confusing, especially in the morning.

    I agree.

There are many web sites that are programs, and not just documents. In the mid 90s, web sites were all documents. Now we live in the 21st century, where you can do a lot online. The web is changing, especially with the push for "the Cloud". If you need to do anything at all beyond displaying things and providing links, you're going to have to use at least some kind of scripting language to do it.

I don't use NoScript if I'm using Cocoon, as at this stage they are incompatible.

Re: How many of you don't surf the web without noscript ?

I don't use noscript. I do use Flashblock. I'm not really clear on what these particular add-ons do; but I am sure that flash-driven ads drive me close to insanity, so I block flash by default, just letting in stuff I actually want to see (youtube videos and the like) and my web -browsing experience is lovely.

If someone could explain the merits of noscript, perhaps I would use it. It's just, you know, is there a crack fox lying in wait under every bushel?
