VirtualBox and EMC2

I'm pretty new to ubuntu so please excuse my noobness.

I wanted to run emc2(on ubuntu 10.04) on my dual core intel atom d525 box along with a Windows XP VM.

When i run the latency test without the virtual machine running i get decent jitter around 6327 . but when i fire up my VM(Virtualbox 4.1.2 OSE running WinXp SP3) The jitter shoots up to like 154448. Is there any way i can Run the virtual machine without the loading the CPU too much and without affecting the jitter figures too much?

I wanted the windows XP coz i wanted to run CorelDraw is there any other way i can run Coreldraw on linux?

whats the command for jitter? i run two VB's and would like to compare

If you have installed an emc2 ubuntu distro then you can run it with 'latency-test' from the prompt.
