Equipment:
Dell Optiplex GX-260, dual-boot, Windows XP Pro, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. (That's what "About Ubuntu" says; I thought I downloaded version 10.10).
M-Audio Delta 410 Sound Card
Originally I had the integrated sound card switched on, but it didn't affect operation of the Delta under Windows. Since I thought it might be confusing Ubuntu, I went into the BIOS setup screen and shut it off. No effect. Tried the graphical Envy 24 mixer. No effect. Tried ALSAMIXER. Again, no effect.
I also notice that there are applications like ECHOMIXER, HDSPMIXER and a few others for other brands of sound cards in my applications menu. Could these be confusing Ubuntu? When I installed Ubuntu just now, did it automatically default to the now-deactivated integrated (motherboard) sound card? Is that why it now refuses to recognize the Delta?
Has anyone else had this happen and if so how did you deal with it?
