and just did the patch part....
    Code:
        wget http://www.insecure.ws/warehouse/vmw...5.5.7-2.tar.gz

        tar -xvzf vmware-update-2.6.27-5.5.7-2.tar.gz

        cd vmware-update-2.6.27-5.5.7-2

        ./runme.pl
    it's working, thanks!!! =D

    edit

    no wait

i used the patch, then tried vmware-config.pl again, it was all perfect, it says that vmware was successfully

but when trying to run the program, a window appears and then closes
and with the terminal i get:

    vdfritz@vdfritz-laptop:~$ vmware
    kde4-config: /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)

I got through the installation process, but when I went to run 'vmware' these are the errors I got...

    Code:

Launching VMware Web Access using /usr/bin/xdg-open

Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)

Re: HowTo: Windows (XP) on Ubuntu with VMWare Server

After installing XP on server. If i want to use VMware player(which is faster) then would i will be able to have the same system with same setting that i made in server. More specifically, player allows to have only one shared folder while server allows unlimitedly(i suppose). So would i will be able to have same no of shared folder with player as much i am having in server?

    hI

the big draw for me with linux was virus resistance, this is probably a silly question but can windows get a virus when running in a virtual machine mode on linux?

Of course it can, but it wont spread into your linux system.

Re: HowTo: Windows (XP) on Ubuntu with VMWare Server

Hello, I'm an trying to unpack the Vmware Server on Ubuntu 64bit unsuccessfully.

    Here is the command
    tar -zxvf VMware-server-2.0.2-203138.x86_64.tar.gz

The output gives seems to get to over 90%, then it fails at the following.
    .
    .
    .
    .
    vmware-server-distrib/installer/
    vmware-server-distrib/installer/services.sh
    vmware-server-distrib/vmware-install.pl
tar: vmware-server-distrib/vmware-install.pl: Cannot create symlink to `bin/vmware-uninstall.pl': Operation not permitted
    vmware-server-distrib/FILES
tar: vmware-server-distrib/lib/webAccess/java/jre1.5.0_15/lib/amd64/server/libjsig.so: Cannot create symlink to `../libjsig.so': Operation not permitted
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
    andrew@desktop:/media/VMware$

    Anyone know what causes this?

Ok, found out issue. Had to unpack the image on the filesystem drive.

    Cheers
