Installation problems - No install screen...

    Ok. trying to install 11.04-desktop-i386.
    hardware
Biostar G31-M7 TE Intel G31 Socket 775 mATX Motherboard w/Video, Audio & LAN
    -Realtek RTL8102EL - 10/100 Controller
    -
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 On Board Graphic Max
    -
    Realtek ALC662 6-Channel HD Audio
    850W power supply
    4g ddr2
    PC2-6400

I have tried with a sata hard drive and with an IDE hard drive, but with the same results

Put in the Install CD, upon startup the Ubuntu Logo screen sits there for about 10 minutes.
Then the screen will go blank for a few more minutes.
    finally I get

clicking cancel does nothing, the window just keeps coming back immediately.

    clicking 'report problem' gives me

and clicking cancel freezes up the machine..
I have no password for the 'problem reporting network' so this is useless...

I cant get past this, and the install freezes. only solution is to manually power down the machine.

    thank you.

As stated from the UBUNTU installation instructions..

    "Install Ubuntu

    1. If you're using a CD: Put the Ubuntu CD into the CD/DVD-drive and restart your computer. You should see a welcome screen prompting you to choose your language and giving you the option to install Ubuntu or try it from the CD."

I NEVER even get to this screen..

I only get the initial Logo and then the error dialogs.

I checked thru the BootFromCD instructions/troubleshooting (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootFromCD) and everything looks correct
    - CD is properly burned
    - Machine boots from CD-drive, and recognizes hard drives
    - I only have 1 CD drive on the machine, and it is capable of booting from this drive

    Welcome.

Try another release. 10.04 LTS is a good start. See if you get the same problem. If so, it is possible Ubuntu is having problems with one of your hardware components although most look sound for what I know.

You could also try the alternate CD rather than the desktop.

hfelton, how you proceed is to post a new thread with a title describing your problem and explain in as much detail what it is rather than hijack this thread, as your problem is not the same and it just complicates things for all concerned. Just copy your post, create a new thread in the appropriate forum and paste it in.

Post a link here if you want.

    Re: Installation problems severe.

Went home last night with 10.04 LTS and tried the install. Everything installed and worked, no problems. Baffled as to why 11.04 won't even give me the install screen.
