I recently bought a new Pangolin (panp8 running 11.04) and love it except for one problem. I use Google Chat in GMail to make almost all of my phone calls and used the internal mic in my last computer (a gaz3) and a pair of headphones to make all my calls.
The new Pangolin's internal mic is extremely staticy and if I turn the volume up on the input (in Sound Preferences) to a level where the person on the phone can hear me, it's so staticy that it's unusable. I have the Connector set to Internal Microphone and even tried Analog Microphone with no change.
Is this a common problem? Is there a solution? Did I just get a bum mic? (If so, I'm going to need to do something about it) I did use a head set for a while, but I'll probably get into more video chat and would rather not have a head set on my head if I can avoid it.
