after installing ubuntu

hi all ,
it is the first time to install ubuntu , and i have to partitions (c,d) , and i will create 2 new partitions for ubuntu , but i wanna know after installing it , will i find my data on (d) or will not , and i will be enforced to create a third partition for my data on linux ?
