You know.. I have to say I'm a bit surprised.
This Unity-Gnome3 mess made me want to take a break from everything, but I figured I might as well try KDE before ditching hope all together, and man was I surprised.

KDE is provides such a great experience now compared to how it was when 4 was released, and I must say so far I'm loving it. It "just works".

+1. I'm surprised anyone still uses Gnome.

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that before KDE4, KDE was the most popular DE but after the 4 fiasco people jumped ship to Gnome (I kinda remember this as I switched too back then) and that's when the "Gnome popularity" rose. But now thanks to Gnome 3 / Unity people are now jumping ships again and to much surprise, they really are impressed by KDE (since they've been doing their thing to polish KDE a lot since the 4 transition).

    Anyway, here's my Win7 setup.

    Ubuntu 10.4 running on a Soyo KT600

Arch Linux running on an Asus 1001P

I don't think I'll ever replace my two aging desktops the way the economy is. By the way I am officially and respectfully leaving Ubuntu once 10.4 falls out of support because of Gnome 3.0. It makes more since to me to do a minimal install and install just one GUI then to install KDE on top of, or remove, Gnome 3.0

Debian and Arch all the way here

What type of Desktop Environment/WM is this, is it the awesome window manager?

Thanks, I usually like your setups as well I think. I think remember seeing a screen shot of of yours a while back based on your avatar lol. I normally model my Arch installs after minimalists desktops like yours and others but I alway end up with unnecessary eye candy. I am gonna look into ScrotWM and try and leave compiz for my main Arch system (Asus A8N-E). Its just running Arch+plain Openbox now cause I haven't had the time to configure it.

Howdy, gang. Just thought I'd stop by and say hello. Loving the iMac, though I kind of miss not changing themes and icon sets every ten seconds. Hope you all are doing well.
