    uvcvideo - inverted camera image

    I have noticed a problem with inverted camera image on the Asus k52je notebook with Ubuntu 11.04 x64.

    When I try to run application like Skype it is not a problem, because I just need to preaload libv4l:
    Code:
    export LIBV4LCONTROL_FLAGS=3 && LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
    Unfortunately this trick does not work for web browser. For example when I try to run google-chrome:
    Code:
    export LIBV4LCONTROL_FLAGS=3 && LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l1compat.so google-chrome
    flash plugin will still start with inverted camera image.

    Is there any possibility to preload parameters globally, so that the flash plugin also used them?

    I was also thinking about giving a parameter to uvcvideo kernel module.
    Code:
    udevadm info -q all --name=/dev/video0 --attribute-walk
    Code:

    Unfortunately uvcvideo does not accept flip parameters:
    Code:
    sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo
    sudo modprobe -v uvcvideo vflip=0
    Code:

    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.38-10-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.ko
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.38-10-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko vflip=0
    FATAL: Error inserting uvcvideo (/lib/modules/2.6.38-10-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/uvc/uvcvideo.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

    Re: uvcvideo - inverted camera image

    Try running guvcview (from the Software Centre) then select "invert" and quit.
    I know this works for brightness issues but you will just have to try it for your problem.

    Unfortunately it does not invert camera image in the web browser.

    I have noticed that this trick inverts skype image only if I run skype this way:
    Code:
    LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
