Wolf,
More information, please.
I have a similar problem,
and it might be the only problem that I've ever had with Ubuntu.
On my Ubuntu system, 10.11, it also shuts down, after some time.
The Power Saver features are shut off off, and 'spin down the Hard Drive' is NOT allowed.
Screen Saver is shut off.
The only time it is a problem is when I try mass back-ups.
I am unable to do an un-attended backup of 100 GBytes, as Ubuntu simply 'shuts down'.
I must do a 'power-off' in order to regain control.
If I remain at the keyboard, keeping the system 'alive' by working an editor, perhaps.
So, I want to hear how the help posts go.

p.Wolf,
Quoting you, I say
"yet again i have problems with ubuntu, my machine is now randomly shutting itself down!"
I am having to access my Business Files via Puppy Linux in order to maintain a long-term contact.
Any ideas about why Ubuntu does a locked-down randomly ?
Puppy works fine all day.
Tiny Core works fine all day.
Knoppix works find all day.
If I leave the keyboard for lunch, then it may have locked out the monitor and keyboard and mouse.
