minecraft and either openjdk java or driver issues

so i got openjdk and minecraft.jar
launcher and main screen work fine, but entering the actual game causes it to randomly close after some time
i tried this with and without an experimental 3d support for nvidia cards, they both have the same outcome

i think this is the same error i had when this computer was winxp, it tries to reference to a memory thats not there and fatally errors, causing the game to randomly close down

As far as I know nouveau only supports 2D. You won't be able to run Minecraft even if you have installed experimental 3D support. You will have to install closed sourced, proprietary video driver provided by Nvidia from the Additional Drivers.

If your Minecraft is crashing for reasons other than your graphics driver, try launching Minecraft from a terminal and see what kind of error message it produces. You can post your error message here or here for more help.
